Global Security, Technology, and Violence Lab
Making the Modern World
The Global Security, Technology, and Violence (GSTV) History lab is an experimental research initiative affiliated with the Center for American Political History and Technology (CAPT) and the Purdue University History Department. Directed by Dr. Christopher Ewing, the lab engages students and faculty to take a collaborative approach to uncovering how the history of violence has shaped our modern world. Students gain hands-on training in professional historical research, apply their findings to address contemporary challenges, navigate digitized and physical repositories of historical sources, and employ data organization and visualization software, including ArcGIS Story Maps, ArcGIS Pro, and Obsidian.
